HUD OIG is auditing a Texas subrecipient’s 2017 disaster program.  In 2018, HUD directed its grantee to allocate $1.1 billion of its $5.024 billion Hurricane Harvey grant to the subrecipient.  The subrecipient planned to operate 11 programs with its grant funds.  The audit objective is to examine the status of the subrecipient's HUD-approved activities and challenges, if any, in implementing the activities.

HUD OIG is reviewing a public housing authority in Texas after receiving complaints about the Authority’s management and oversight.

HUD OIG is reviewing a housing authority in New York.  The authority has more than two dozen housing developments including one that has been mostly vacant for years.  The review objective is to determine whether the authority properly managed the vacant development.

Leonard C Boyle, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that ALICIA GARDNER, 51, of Griswold, waived her right to be indicted and pleaded guilty today before U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden in Bridgeport to embezzling money from federally subsidized housing complexes that she had managed.

BOSTON – The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced today a $7,000 settlement with 44 Hawthorne, LLC and its owner, Alek Vienneau, to resolve allegations that they submitted false claims to the federal government after receiving impermissible excess rent payments from a low income tenant while participating in a federal housing subsidy program.
