| Audit of the U.S. Virigin Islands Housing Programs | 12/2025 | Promoting Accountability and Effectiveness in Disaster Response and Recovery | Community Planning and Development |
Summary
HUD OIG is auditing the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI). As a result of the devastation caused by hurricanes Irma and Maria during September 2017, HUD allocated almost $2 billion in Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery and Mitigation funds to USVI to help it recover from the hurricanes. Our objective is to determine whether USVI is adhering to applicable program requirements in the performance and management of its CDBG-DR and CDBG-MIT housing programs. In addition, we will conduct a review of the disaster recovery and mitigation housing program funded transactions to determine if there are potential improper payments.
