On March 16, 2026, the former Executive Director of Siren Eaton Shelter (Siren), a nonprofit organization in Charlotte, Michigan, that provided housing and other resources to homeless families and the survivors of domestic abuse, pleaded guilty to an indictment charging her with one count of theft from a program receiving federal funds. Teri Looney pleaded guilty in the Western District of Michigan. According to the Indictment, Looney embezzled $95,193 from Siren between June 2021 and May 2023. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Detroit Office with assistance from HUD OIG and the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.
